February Program: Russ Burden Under Tanzanian Skies
Russ Burden will give a two-part presentation entitled, “Under Tanzanian Skies.” Part 1 is an instructional “How To” Keynote presentation that demonstrates his fondness for Tanzania. It includes instructional photos that depict his most common tour mottos: It’s All About The Light, Edit Before Pressing the Shutter, Exhaust All Possibilities, Watch For Those Blinkies, and more……. You will be shown examples of images that illustrate what to do before pressing the shutter so you can make award winning safari and wildlife images.
Part 2 is a 20-minute offering of Russ’s safari photos set to music. It’s an escape into the land of the Serengeti showing both wildlife and scenery.
Russ Burden is the owner of Russ Burden Nature Photography Safaris. He runs wildlife workshops in addition to safaris to Tanzania three times a year. He is internationally published and his commercial work is marketed through Getty Images.
Russ has been writing the Tip of the Week for the Outdoor Photographer website for years. He has hundreds of tips archived on their website. Russ is a multiple time winner of the prestigious Nature’s Best Windland Smith Rice Award in many categories in addition to having numerous safari photos honored and hung in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC and the Iziko Museum in South Africa. Russ has been published numerous times in Outdoor Photographer and his wildlife and scenic images have appeared in calendars published by Self Realization Fellowship, Kodak, Audubon, Sierra Club, National Wildlife, National Geographic Traveler, and more.
Russ has an incredible passion for photography and seeks to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with all his workshop participants. His drive to seek optimal light and composition motivates him to create the perfect image. His energy and commitment to photography are contagious and it’s his goal to help others get to this point in their pursuit of our wonderful art.
The CNCC meeting will be Thursday, February 16th, 2017. As usual the meeting will start at 7 PM.
The February meeting will be in the Frasier Meadows Retirement Community Assembly Hall. Never Eat Breakfast before Midnight, a humorous look back at lessons learned from 20 years of landscape photography
Noted photographer John Sexton once said, “The only difference between me and my students is that I’ve made more mistakes than they have.” Glenn Randall has been a professional landscape photographer for over 20 years, so he’s had plenty of time to learn from a long string of fumbles, failures, near-misses, and fiascos he has work on different kind of events as weddings or in a photo booth rental nj. Since 1979, Glenn Randall has combined his love of wilderness with a passion for photography. His work has been published in Audubon, Avalanche, Barnes & Noble, Brown Trout, Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy, and Runner’s World calendars and in Audubon, GEO, Outdoor Photographer, Outside, SKI, Los Angeles Times Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, New York Times Magazine, and many others. At age 59, he has accumulated 1,500 photo credits, including 80 covers, and sold over 10,000 prints. He’s also written 225 magazine articles and eight books all by really focusing on working hard on his office, keeping his work organized with the right shipping labels, so taking advantage of every resource. Those are made available with the use of high-quality printers like the Kyocera’s office printers. In addition, he was the sole photographer for three books of landscape photographs, Rocky Mountain National Park Impressions, Colorado Wild & Beautiful, and Sunrise from the Summit, all published by Farcountry Press. In spring, 2015, Rocky Nook published his book The Art, Science, and Craft of Great Landscape Photography.
“The Photographer’s Guide to Colorado’s National Parks and Monuments”
Professional photographer Bob Maynard will speak about their new book “The Photographer’s Guide to Colorado’s National Parks and Monuments” Thursday, October 15, at 7:00 p.m. Bob will share his extensive personal experience, entertaining anecdotes, and a selection of Bob’s photographs during this 65 minute presentation. Bob is an award-winning photographer. He has been exploring the Colorado Rockies and the desert southwest since 1969. Having accumulated over 1500 photo credits, Bob’s images have appeared in corporate websites, Audubon, Colorado Archaeology Society and Rocky Mountain Raptor Center publications. He is past Chairman of the Louisville National Juried Photography Show and provides photo tour, photography workshops and corporate wall art services in Colorado, Wyoming, the Everglades and Utah. Few states in the continental United States offer the range of geography and topography that Colorado does. The variety of scenic locations draws millions of annual visitors, hikers and so many to enjoy, if you are coming for the hikes you must own your next triathlon watch for the ride, though and perfect .Here most of the tourist are hoping to document their visit in photographs.

She has always loved photography and enjoyed the outdoors but discovered a new passion for capturing the antics and special moments of wildlife after moving to Colorado in 2002 from New Jersey. Her award-winning work has appeared in numerous galleries and publications, including National Geographic Digital, Outdoor Photographer, Colorado Outdoors and Wyoming Wildlife. A life-long advocate for wilderness and untrammeled wild places, local nature photographer David Bahr’s award-winning artwork can be seen in major museums ranging from the Smithsonian in DC to the Anchorage Museum in Alaska. His artwork can also be seen in National Parks and in periodic exhibits at notable local galleries such as The Dairy Center, Rembrandt Yard, and the Hartman.
Aligning with his passion for all things wild, David has photographed wilderness areas all over the world, and has been invited to show in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum exhibit Wilderness Forever, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the US Wilderness Act. David has been the Artist-in-Residence at Glacier Bay National Park, one of the world’s only marine wilderness areas where he spent much of a summer photographing glaciers, swatting mosquitoes, and kayaking alongside grizzlies in rough seas. He has been a Defenders of Wildlife Photography Contest winner, and been highlighted in many magazines and popular nature calendars including the National Wildlife Federation, Nature’s Best Photography, Defenders of Wildlife, and the National Audubon Society.
Locally, he has been a Boulder County Open Space Artist-in-Residence at Caribou Ranch, staying in the wonderfully restored Delonde Barn where each night he happily competed with a short-tailed weasel for his dinner. He has also received a Windland Smith Rice International Photography Award for his nighttime photograph of the Four Mile Canyon Fire.
Following degrees from Interlochen Arts Academy, Harvard and the University of Colorado, he moved to the mountains he loves, just outside of Nederland, where he has happily lived and photographed for many years.

Dan Ballard is an internationally known travel and landscape photographer from Colorado. His images take you on a visual journey to some of the world’s most beautiful and far-reaching corners. On January 15th, Eli Vega is the featured guest speaker. Eli will present Magnificent Colorado, a compilation of images that represent his personal favorite places, towns, locales, hiking trails, and events throughout Colorado, he will also be sharing his favorite rv decals for everyone to camping in Colorado. Eli moved to Colorado from Texas twelve years ago, but has seen more of Colorado than most people who have lived here all their lives.
